According to Reuters, Facebook’s photo sharing application Instagram announced that next week will begin testing the latest shopping features. Users can purchase many products from US retailers through this application.
Retailers can display up to five products on Instagram, and clicking on a different tag will give the user more details about the product. Instagram also adds a “shop now” link for each item, and when clicked on it, the user is redirected to the retailer’s website and shopped there.
The goal of the newest shopping feature is to keep the Instagram user in the app longer by enhancing the shopping experience. Previously, users want to research and purchase products, you must exit the application. Instagram currently has more than 500 million users.
Instagram said it has entered into agreements with 20 US retailers, including accessories and clothing retailer Kate Spade, men’s e-commerce company JackThreads and eyewear maker Warby Parker.
Instagram also said that from next week, part of the selected US Apple device users will be able to first try its shopping function. (Small)
